From installation to downloading your competitors' creatives β€” all in one easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide.

1 Install the extension

Ads Library Hunter installs in "Load unpacked" mode (not yet on the Chrome Web Store) β€” about 30 seconds.

Unzip the folder

Unzip AdsLibraryHunter.zip into a permanent folder (avoid Downloads, which is easy to clear).

Open the Extensions page

Type chrome://extensions into the Chrome address bar and press Enter.

Enable Developer mode

Toggle Developer mode in the top-right corner to ON.

Load unpacked

Click Load unpacked β†’ select the folder you just unzipped β†’ an orange magnifier icon appears in the toolbar.

Pin the icon

Click the puzzle-piece icon 🧩 β†’ pin "Ads Library Hunter" so the button is always visible.

πŸ’‘ TipWhenever there's a new update, go back to chrome://extensions and click Reload (πŸ”„) on the extension card.

2 Open the panel

Click the orange magnifier icon in the toolbar. The extension automatically opens the Facebook Ads Library page and shows the control panel on the right side of the screen.

Why does it have to be on facebook.com?The panel is a content script that only runs inside the Facebook Ads Library β€” where it can call Facebook's internal API to scan. If you don't see the panel, make sure you're on facebook.com/ads/library.

Click the _ button in the panel corner to collapse/expand it. Choose your language (πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§/πŸ‡»πŸ‡³/πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³/πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ) from the dropdown at the top of the panel.

3 Scan products

The heart of the tool. Enter keywords β†’ choose countries β†’ click Silent scan (API).

KeywordsEnter multiple keywords separated by commas β€” the tool scans them one at a time. Example: posture corrector, neck massager.

B

CountriesTwo-letter country codes separated by commas (US, GB, DE), or type ALL to scan globally.

C

PagesHow many API "pages" to scan (~30 ads each). Start with 20; raise it to dig deeper.

D

⚑ Silent scan (API)Scans quietly through Facebook's internal API β€” fast, no manual scrolling. The orange progress bar moves in real time.

ResultsEach row is a product with its score on the right. Click a row to open details, view & download the creative.

⚠️ Silent scan vs Scrape pageSilent scan (API) is the main method. If Facebook changes its API or results come back empty, use the Scrape page button to gather data directly from what's currently displayed β€” then scroll the page to collect more.

4 Filters & tuning

Turn on the filter "chips" to keep only the products worth your attention. An active chip turns cyan.

FilterMeaning & how to use it
Active onlyShow only ads that are currently running β€” hides paused ads. Almost always worth enabling.
Variations β‰₯Number of creative versions from the same advertiser. Many variations = they're scaling and testing hard β†’ a winning signal. Set β‰₯ 3.
Days running β‰₯The longer an ad runs, the more likely it's profitable. Set β‰₯ 14 days to filter out new, unproven ads.
Score β‰₯Keep only products above a minimum score (see Scoring). Set β‰₯ 60 to focus on quality.
Exclude scanned pagesSkip pages you already saw in a previous scan β€” avoids duplicates when scanning many keywords.

5 Understand the score (Winning Score)

Each product is scored 0–100 based on signals like: number of creative variations, days running, active status, how many advertisers repeat it, and engagement metrics. The higher the score, the stronger the winning signal.

80–100 Β· Winning

Very strong signal. Green badge. Research & test these first.

60–79 Β· Promising

Worth watching. Gold badge. Review more angles/creatives before deciding.

< 60 Β· Weak

Weak signal or too new. Gray badge. Usually skip.

The score is a signal, not a promise.Always validate yourself by reviewing the creative, the price point, market saturation and supply before spending money.

6 Download video & content

Click a result row to open the details panel. From there you can:

  • Download the video / image creative at original resolution.
  • Copy the ad content (ad copy, headline) for angle reference.
  • View the destination landing page the competitor drives to.
  • See the number of variations and run time to gauge maturity.

7 Spy on competitor targeting

Click the Group by competitor button (the people icon) to group results by each advertiser/page instead of by individual ad.

  • Instantly see which competitor is running the most ads for a niche.
  • Compare each page's average score β€” which page is the strongest.
  • Spot the big players to learn their creative strategy and scaling cadence.

8 Export CSV

Click Export CSV to download all results (name, score, variations, days running, links…) as a .csv file β€” open it in Excel / Google Sheets for deeper analysis, filtering and archiving.

9 Activate a license key

Open the key field

Click the πŸ”‘ Enter key label at the top of the panel.

Paste & activate

Paste the license key you received β†’ click Activate. The status changes to PRO.

? FAQ & Troubleshooting

I clicked the icon but don't see the panel?
Make sure you're on facebook.com/ads/library and logged into Facebook. If you just updated, go to chrome://extensions, click Reload, then reopen it.
The silent scan returns empty results?
Facebook occasionally changes its internal API. Try again after a few seconds, lower the page count, or switch to the Scrape page button and scroll to gather data directly.
How many pages should I scan?
Start with 20. For large niches where you want to dig deep, gradually raise it to 30–50. Scanning too much at once can trigger a temporary Facebook rate limit β€” if so, take a few minutes' break.
Is my data sent anywhere?
Scan results and settings are stored locally in the browser (chrome.storage.local). The extension only contacts the server to validate a license key.
